CED Stone Group www.cedstone.co.uk Passing On Our Knowledge – Hosting CPD’s (Continual Professional Development) We run educational CPD (Continual Professional Development) talks and presentations for client organisations and groups, presenting on a range of different technical subjects. Hosted either from a venue of your choosing or from one of our depots, these training sessions can be highly beneficial to new staff for example, or for anyone in your business who wants to learn more about hard landscaping products. Our professional team will draw on their extensive natural stone knowledge and experience in the hard landscaping industry to deliver learning content tailored to your organisation’s specific business. Our Ethical Policy and Actions CED Stone Group are full and active members of the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI). Over recent years we have done a lot of work in our key supply chain areas, focusing on India and China where the risk levels are greatest. We lean heavily on our long term supplier relationships to build up our understanding and knowledge of Ethical practice and worker situation. Experience has taught us that building these relationships on mutual trust and respect opens the route to meaningful dialogue on labour rights issues. It allows us direct access to the workers to “hear their voice” and understand their concerns and true situation. Also we then make demands on our suppliers to look into their own supply chains and raise awareness further down the chain. We make it clear at every stage that to bond workers by debt and not allow them the freedom to leave their role if they so desire is completely unacceptable. Building the business case with our suppliers allows them to “buy in” to our Ethical requirements and work with us to capacity build within their organisation. This includes running training events with management and workers as well as supplying PPE and ethical tools such as passbooks and awareness leaflets. We maximise our influence by joining others in collaborative projects such as RSWG, Shandong Alliance and Iberian compliance. We judge our success by creating “step by step” ethical improvements for workers in our tier one factories and encourage and assist our suppliers to do the same further down in their own supply chain. Our full ethical policy is available to view on our website.
