BS 7533: 101 - 2021 – the new British Standard for the design of modular pavements (part 102 for installation is in the process of being prepared)
Previously spread over many parts, the design guidance for stone, concrete and clay has been brought together into one consistent document It is easy to navigate and will be of great benefit to designers whether for public spaces and high traffic or private garden footpaths and drives.
For natural stone, the guidance covers the recommended surface characteristics as well as the structural design for both bound and unbound construction (with or without cement).
About the new standard
Those familiar with the parts of the previous standard will notice the simplification, the completeness and the consistency throughout. Those used to designing with stone will see the way the standard encompasses all the many different stone types and forms.
To enable their use, CED maintains a database of the technical characteristics of each material, essential for design in accordance with the standard where the construction is evaluated to make best use of the particular stone’s qualities.
If you wish to ask a question or speak with us about using the standard, please email to technical@cedstone.co.uk Providing us with the traffic category and the purpose behind the design together with any important issues for the location and usage will enable us to be most helpful.
