Meeting the technical requirements for the elliptical seating was quite a challenge. A tough frost-resistant material to match the colour of the Jura limestone used internally and the ability to cut to curves accurately were the prerequisite. Then we had to reconfigure the plan very slightly so it could be made with a range of circular elements. Putting it all together produced the elegant ellipse you see now in a beautiful and uniform buff York stone which will stand the test of time. We are absolutely delighted to have enabled this complex design and to have done so economically‚ it was most challenging but also rewarding.
