Milngavie Town Centre
Materials:
Granite Paving & Kerbs, Bespoke Masonry Services
Details:
The aim
on this project was to highlight the role that pedestrianised areas
can play in directing both locals and visitors to sites and places of
interest within Milngavie - to encourage active travel, improve
navigation and tell a bit of the history of the town through
illustration and design.
Our
supply was for both a light grey paving mix and dark grey kerbs.
These were sourced promptly from Portugal with an attractive, slip
resistant, flame textured finish. We then arranged for the
appropriate slabs to be etched by use of water jet and sand blasting
facilities in the UK. Producing inlays of ceramic cut-outs and
fitting them in to place on the etched units, as well as water
jetting precise holes for discs to be fitted in to position later on
site.
This
interesting feature area is scheduled to be repeated elsewhere in the
town and really improves the Public Realm image of Milngavie.
