Sunderland Keel Line
Details:
Keel Square, designed by Sunderland City Council was a great project celebrating Sunderland's maritime and industrial heritage.
Part of the project is a unique public art feature, "The Keel Line”, which features a large sculpture “Propellers of the City” designed by British sculptur Stephen Broadbent and a long strip of paving listing over 8,100 ships launched on The Wear.
We proudly supplied the Black Basalt paving featuring the ship names and also supplied Black Basalt and Cornish Granite for the benches and water features.
A fantastic commemoration of the people who built the ships in the world's biggest shipbuilding town, it won the Northern Design Awards, Public Space award, in 2015.
