Section 1 Stone Paving - British Isles 24 Grampian Granite Colour Product Description An attractive granite extracted from the North East of Scotland. Grampian Granite is a highly durable material that’s ideal for both commercial and domestic projects. Consisting of Quartz with various Feldspar minerals and smaller quantities of Biotite Mica, Grampian Granite was intruded into the surrounding rock layers approximately 450 million years ago. Aeolian Sandstone Colour Product Description A light-toned sandstone found in the North East of Scotland, made up of mostly Quartz with small amounts of Chlorite and Calcite minerals binding the grains together. ‘Aeolian’ comes from the Greek God of the Wind, as this sandstone was formed approximately 230 million years ago when Britain was closer to the equator and covered in deserts. Being a desert sandstone, the sand grains were windblown, making them worn and round.
