Baldock Town Centre has won the best commercial project at the Horticulture Week Landscape and Amenity Awards.
The awards‚ which celebrate exceptional work in the landscape and green space sector‚ were announced at a ceremony held on 3rd November at the Grosvenor House Hotel‚ in London.
The scheme was described as an exemplar of how to enhance a town centre. The high impact scheme has completely transformed the historic market town by improving provision and enjoyment for all users.
Baldock now has a new market place in the heart of the High Street linking to other new squares and high quality multifunctional spaces.
We worked closely with the Architect prior to specification to ensure that the necessary technical requirements for the stone would be achieved. In particular we selected stones with high strength qualities and ones with a very low potential for slip. The paved area is around 3000m2 and is set out in a 3 colour mix; silver grey fine picked‚ mid grey flamed and dark green flamed. We also supplied fluted drainage channels which include 20mm grooves cut on the top surface. All materials were responsibly sourced and supplied within the projects required time-scales.
