The CHERUB HIV Garden: A Life Without Walls follows the journey of a young person diagnosed with HIV. The white pod at the top of the garden represented a clinic and a cocoon of safety from the outside world. Around it, the planting is regimented and minimal. Naomi wanted something light-coloured for the path, in order to highlight the clinical and sterile elements of the garden’s concept.
She didn’t want to use paving so when she saw the CEDEC Silver, she decided that it would be a great choice; it’s a consistent light shade with a nice sparkle to it. The gravel was used to infill around the paving slabs too, which went down really easily, and the shade created a stunning contrast with the darker grey slate used in the garden.
