CED Stone Group Is Going Global! Introducing Our New Division; CED North America Inc.
Post date: 19 Jul, 2018
It’s an exciting time for us at the moment, as we announce that our CED Stone Commercial division is growing and expanding into new overseas territories! Our newly established CED Stone North America Inc. will supply natural stone and hard landscaping products to public, commercial, trafficked and pedestrian landscape projects in the Canadian and North American markets.
CED North America aims to bring new and exciting materials to the market in addition to stone sourced from American and Canadian quarries, striving to help architects access materials that they wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to specify. Based from Montreal in Canada, CED North America will be able to service all major cities across Canada and the United States with an initial primary focus on Quebec, Ontario and New York. Our efforts in Canada have so far secured CED Stone Group’s membership with The Natural Stone Institute, an international trade association which serves as the authorative source for safety and technical standards, as well as information regarding the use of natural stone.
At the forefront of the new venture is Ruan Ellis, who has over 12 years experience in the stone industry. During his time in the UK at CED Stone Group, Ruan oversaw all aspects of the commercial estimating for large, high-profile commercial schemes from start to finish. Travelling extensively to visit different quarries and suppliers across Europe and East Asia, Ruan has been responsible for sourcing new materials and successfully introducing them to the UK market.
Using the right products is crucial to ensure that your landscaped areas can withstand pressures from external forces whilst continuing to look good for many years to come. By drawing on the team’s technical knowledge and understanding, Ruan will be perfectly positioned to help North American clients explore rare and specialist stone products from across the world, including Europe and Britain. Clients can expect specialist advice and effective technical solutions from CED North America, ensuring that their project will be sustainable, cost-effective and long lasting.
One of CED Stone North America’s very first projects has been a $3.5 billion public square development in West Philadelphia. Schuylkill Yards will be 14 acres of residential, commercial, retail and laboratory buildings and multiple outdoor public spaces, each with their own distinct characteristics. Participating in an intense and rigorous tendering process, the contract was awarded to CED North America following on from a referral by London-based architect firm West 8. CED Stone Commercial previously worked with West 8 in the UK for the redevelopment of Jubilee Gardens, a famous London landmark.
